This October, key team members traveled to Barcelona, Spain to advance materials selection and design review for our upcoming project anchor, a destination boutique hotel in Silverton. Michael, whose firm is signed on as hotel building architect of record, and Ben Blue met with Francesc and his team, the hotel's Barcelona-based designer, to review ceramics, technical material details, and various architectural solutions firsthand. Discussions during these type of visits (like the lunch Ben Blue had with WSP team members in Denver a couple weeks prior) helped confirm our overall project direction and strengthened the collaboration between our design and development team.

Back in Silverton, Colorado, we are nearing plan submission, with documents nearly complete and mass timber partners confirming project feasibility. The project first phase will deliver a sustainable, high-quality hotel at the heart of Silverton, workforce housing and other future community-conscious initiatives. The project remains focused on sustainability, local relevance, and providing a welcoming space for both visitors and residents as we work toward plan review (building permission) in tandem with ongoing fundraising.
This month, Silverton Hospitality Group hosted Christopher Plant for an in-depth deep dive into Silverton history, surroundings and current project status. He and Ben Blue mused about the future, including contemplating a definition for what an emerging hospitality and gastronomic village in the mountains might look like.
